About Fruits Basket
Fruits Basket is Japanese shojo manga written by Natsuki Takaya published in semi-monthly Japanese magazine Hana to Yume, published from 1998 to 2006.
The series was adapted by director Akitaro Daichi in July 2001 which ran for 26 episodes. TMS entertainment produced a 2019 reboot which will adapt the whole manga. The adaptation has an entirely new Japanese cast and staff from the previous version, as per Takaya’s request. Yoshihide Ibata directs the reboot with Taku Kishimoto as script writer.
The series centers around Tohru Honda who thought her life was headed for misfortune when a family tragedy left her living in a tent. When her small home is discovered by the mysterious Soma clan, she suddenly finds herself living with Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma. But she quickly learns their family has a bizarre secret of their own: when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Zodiac!
